Arlesey Railway Station
Arlesey railway station serves the town of Arlesey in Bedfordshire, England. The station is 60 km (37 miles) north of London Kings Cross on the "London-Peterborough" line. First Capital Connect manage and operate trains that serve the station.
This station was opened on October 3, 1988 on the site of the old Arlesey and Henlow station which was closed, together with Three Counties station, to passengers on 5 January 1959 and goods on 28 November 1960 (source: Bedfordshire Libraries). This was not as a result of the "Beeching Report", which was not published until 1963, but was due rather to declining receipts.
It was designed to be fully accessible to wheelchairs although as of 2006 the up platform to London Kings Cross is only accessible until 12.30 p.m. when the booking clerk finishes his or her duty for the day. The down platform to Peterborough northbound is fully accessible at all times. However this is of no use to wheelchair users who cannot leave their chair as there are no facilities for 'loading and unloading'. The nearest stations for this are at Hatfield to the south and Peterborough to the North.
Services
There is a half-hourly service southbound to London Kings Cross and northbound to Peterborough with an hourly service in each direction on Sundays.
