Bamford Railway Station

Bamford railway station serves the village of Bamford in the Derbyshire Peak District, in England.

It was opened in 1894 on the Midland Railway's Dore and Chinley line (now the Hope Valley Line). It became an unstaffed halt in 1969.

Bamford is near to a series of dams in the Upper Derwent Valley. During the construction of the Howden Reservoir in 1912 and the Derwent in 1916, the railway carried stone from Grindleford to a point between Bamford and Hope. The railway interchange was re-instated in 1945 for the Ladybower Reservoir.

Service

The typical off-peak service from the station is one train every two hours to Sheffield and one to Manchester Piccadilly. This is increased on Saturdays to one train per hour in each direction and two-hourly on Sundays.

Occasionally, East Midlands Trains services between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield stop at Bamford.
